Steven W. Pullins, President
Mr. Pullins has more than 30 years of utility industry experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, and renewables project development. He previously led the nation’s Modern Grid Strategy for DOE’s National Energy Technology Laboratory. Mr. Pullins is leading two renewables startups, one in biopower and one in solar system applications. He has worked with more than 20 utilities in Smart Grid strategies, renewables strategies, power system optimization, operations transformation, and RTO/ISO operational processes. He has led five utility or state Smart Grid implementation planning efforts. Mr. Pullins is the vice-chair of the IEEE PES Intelligent Grid Coordinating Committee and a member of the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel and the OpenSG (Smart Grid) group. He holds a BS and MS in Engineering.

Joseph A. Miller, Sr. Vice President
Mr. Miller has more than 30 years of utility experience in nuclear power, transmission, and distribution engineering and operations. As Vice President of Engineering and Technical Support at Illinois Power he was responsible for engineering, planning, project management and construction for electric and gas assets and acted as Public Information Officer for the nuclear program. He is currently a member of the Modern Grid Strategy team for the National Energy Technology Laboratory and has been involved in nuclear projects in Japan and RTO transmission projects in the U.S. Joe holds BS in Electrical Engineering and MS in Nuclear Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in Illinois.
Laurie D. Pullins, Vice President/CFO
Ms. Pullins has more than 15 years of financial and accounting experience. She is also deeply involved as an advocate for the deaf & hard of hearing community; currently serving a three year term on Governor Bredesen’s TN Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Council, Nashville, TN. Ms. Pullins also serves as President of the HLAA (Hearing Loss Association of America) Knoxville Chapter (TN). She previously ran a small custom apparel business. She holds a BS in Business Administration with a Finance emphasis.
John F. Westerman, Vice President
Mr. Westerman has more than 20 years experience in the development, evaluation, application, and testing of energy technologies. He has supported energy technology evaluation activities for the California Energy Commission, the Electric Power Research Institute, the Gas Research Institute, the U.S. Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (a division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers), U.S. Department of Energy, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, and numerous utility companies. Mr. Westerman was the past Chairman of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Energy Committee. He holds an MBA and a BS in Physics.
Thomas Grabowski, Smart Grid Systems Architect
Mr. Grabowski has over 30 years of electrical engineering and project management experience in the utility power industry. He is a practiced professional with outstanding project planning and execution skills. Experiences include managing the design, development and installation of various substation controls, evaluating and implementing new Smart Grid technologies related to the power industry, and working collaboratively with utility agencies to improve transmission system plans, and design/build procedures to reduce process costs. Managed various smart grid type projects before they were called Smart Grid. Recently managed the implementation of DOE/Allegheny Power’s Autonomous Dynamic Feeder Reconfiguration System that dynamically collects data from distribution feeders and in case of a fault, will automatically isolate the fault and restore electric service using available capacity from adjacent feeders. He holds a BSEE and MSEE.
Hilal Katmale, Smart Grid Systems Engineer
Mr. Katmale has 5 years of experience delivering SCADA/EMS/DMS/GIS system applications in the Utility industry. He has expertise in data modeling, enterprise application integration for utility business process optimization as well as experience in UNIX, Oracle administration and Web Services for enterprise-wide Application integration. Mr. Katmale has background in the Department of Energy’s Smartgrid Roadmap and EPRI Intelligrid program. He also provided Intelligent Transportation Solutions to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. He holds a BSEE and MS Engineering Management.
Robert Shipp, Microgrid Systems Engineer
Mr. Shipp is a Smart Grid Engineer on a DOE/CEC funded Microgrid Project. He has extensive
the area of combined heat and power (CHP). He has assisted in the mechanical design, specification, and development of the sequence of operation for several large CHP projects. Systems include the integration of heat recovery steam generators and absorption cooling systems. Mr. Shipp has also conducted start-
commissioning services for CHP projects. Mr. Shipp has 6 years of mechanical engineering and integr
ation experience in all engineering aspects of design, technology selection, integration, interconnection, and testing of distributed generation. He holds a BS in Physics, an ME in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and a PE license in the state of California.
